IN PICTURES: Shinty: Bute 0-4 Kinlochshiel

Bute Shinty Club’s second team saw their interest in the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup ended at the first round stage in Rothesay on Saturday.

Bute competed well against their Kinlochshiel counterparts for the first hour or so in glorious spring sunshine at the Meadows, with Johnnie MacAskill’s well-struck shot at the back post the only difference between the sides at half-time.

But Kinlochshiel’s experience of shinty at North Division One level eventually told in the second half, with Fergus Dobson’s hat-trick giving the visitors a comfortable victory - the first two after hesitation in the Bute defence, and the third after Bute keeper Bob McKechnie parried a low drive and Dobson snapped up the rebound to confirm Shiel’s place in the second roun.
