Glorious weather welcomed members and guests to Rothesay Bowling Club’s opening day for season 2016.

Due to the fantastic turnout the start of the game was delayed slightly as the green was re-set into eight rinks to accommodate the 54 players

President John Wilson welcomed all to the club and a minute’s silence was held to remember those members no longer with us. He wished all present a good season before asking Susan Selkirk to throw the first jack.

A great afternoon’s competition and camaraderie then followed, and the traditional game which followed saw the president’s team lose 25-20 to the vice president.

The highest up president’s rink included Hugh Charker, Iain McMurchie, Ian Duncan and Hugh Yeamans, and the highest up vice president’s rink consisted of Tom Faulds. Bert McCormack, Jimmy Miller and Jock McMillan.

The president thanked all those involved in making the day a great success. On behalf of the visitors, John Preston, president, of Ardbeg Bowling Club thanked the ladies in the kitchen, the bar staff and club members for a great day.
