Ardbeg Bowling Club president Danny Bowie welcomed ten gents’ triples from Rothesay, Kay Park (Kilmarnock), Colintraive and the host club to the annual competition for the Millennium Trophy on Sunday, July 13.

The secretary explained the format for the day, with all teams playing five games of seven ends, and a break for lunch after the first two games.

Prizes would be awarded for the first three places on a league basis.

After an excellent day’s play, dinner was served by the club’s catering staff. Danny then praised the kitchen and bar staff for their efforts and thanked all the visiting clubs for their participation.

Danny then presented the prizes and the Millennium Cup, praising all who had contributed to an excellent day’s bowling.

Results as follows.

Winners - Ardbeg 2 (Ronnie McCrae, Jimmy Gilmour, Fred Baker (skip)), 8 points +23 shots.

Runners-up: Rothesay 2 (Allan Cowan, Donald Campbell, David McMurchie (skip), 8pts +15 shots.
