Kirsty Ewing and Wilstrop Crackerjack - also known as Guinness - won the champion of champions title at Bute Pony and Riding Club’s annual championship show in Rothesay on Sunday.

Kirsty and Guinness retained the title they won in 2013 after winning both the mountain and moorland and ridden horse/pony championships, beating off stiff competition from the event’s other section champions, Gillian Morrison on Zita (turnout), Ellie McMillan on Rocky (working hunter) and Marie-Louise Kane on Pentavran Guinevere (ridden hunter).

The day’s showing classes were held in (mostly) glorious sunshine as the heavy showers which were forecast to affect much of west and central Scotland - and which fell with a vengeance in other areas - somehow managed to spare both the competitors and spectators.
