BUTE Shinty Club’s Camanachd Cup tie at home to Kingussie this Saturday, July 2, will get under way at the slightly earlier-than-usual time of 2pm.
The tie will be Bute’s fourth in this season’s competition - all of them on home soil - and though Kingussie haven’t won the sport’s premier competition since 2006, they will still present a huge test for the island club.
The Badenoch side have already lifted one piece of silverware this season, winning the Mactavish Cup with a 4-2 final defeat of Fort William two weeks ago, and an 8-0 league win at Kilmallie last Saturday suggests they have hit a rich vein of form after a slightly shaky start to the campaign.
* Meanwhile, Bute’s second team are also in early action this Saturday after a two-week lay-off - their South Division Two fixture away to Inveraray gets under way at 12 noon at the Winterton.
The Argyll club’s first team are in Camanachd Cup action on home soil later in the day, with Kyles Athletic the visitors in the only all-south quarter-final clash.
