A brand new cyclo-cross event has been added to an already busy programme for the Bute Wheelers’ Festival of Cycling later this month.
The race will take place around the Meadows in Rothesay, beginning at 5.30pm on Saturday, September 21 - the first of the festival’s two days.
Competitors will complete seven or eight laps of a course around the outer limits of the park, lasting about one hour in total and mostly using the longer grass and rougher borders as well as the slopes of Lovers’ Walk.
As well as cycling, the course will require a certain amount of running - and possibly one or two splashes of mud along the way too.
