Curling: Weather calls a halt to game

The weather called a halt to Bute Curling Club's plans to compete for the Millbank Trophy on the mainland last week.

The curling report this week will read more like an account of the weather, unfortunately.

Curlers gathered at the pier on September 30 and joined a large number of hopeful travellers. Alas, the weather was not conducive to travelling and the heavy mist hanging over the Clyde proved to be too much for the ferries.

With a possible sailing being predicted ever later in the day the keen but disappointed group of curlers, all set to play in the competition for the Millbank Trophy, decided to head for home. Your curlers already on the mainland were equally frustrated but hopefully the competition can be rearranged for the near future.

Coming up, weather permitting, is a Greenock Day League game against an Ardgowan side followed by a competition at the weekend for the ‘125 Trophy’.

Fingers crossed!
