Curling: Robertson’s rink wins Bute’s Macrae Cup

Alec Robertson skipped Donnie MacLeod and Nancy Kinnear to victory in Bute Curling Club’s final club competition of the season, the Macrae Cup.

Alec’s rink beat Ron Forrester (skip), Colin Sharp and Jim Findlay 5-2 in the first of the day’s three round-robin games, before Ron and co scored three shots at the final end to come from behind and beat Donald Kinnear (skip), Bill Stein and Margaret MacLeod 6-5.

The last game of the day saw Alec and his team-mates secure the trophy with a 5-3 victory over Donald’s rink.

The following day, Donald Kinnear (skip), Ron Forrester, Margaret MacLeod, and Nancy Kinnear put on one of their best performances of the Greenock Day League Season to defeat Dunoon’s John Adamson (skip), Norman Laird, Rosemary Benn and Ann Thomson by seven shots to four.
