Curling: Four Bute rinks battle for Clydesdale Bank Trophy

Bute Curling Club’s first match of 2016 saw four rinks of three players compete for the Clydesdale Bank Trophy at the Waterfront Leisure Centre in Greenock.

In the first round of games Jan Eccles (skip), Alec Robertson and Margaret MacLeod beat Beck Reid (skip), Andy Eccles and Bill Stein 11-5, while Colin Sharp (skip), Ron Forrester and Nancy Kinnear had an 8-6 win over Donnie MacLeod (skip), Donald Kinnear and Jim Findlay.

After lunch, Beck’s rink beat Colin 10-2 and Donnie saw off Jan 9-6, leaving all four rinks with a record of one win and one defeat; the players decided to look at performance on the day to decide the winner, with Beck, Andy and Bill emerging winners as a result of their performance in the second round of games.
