Donnie MacLeod led Donald Kinnear and Nancy Kinnear to victory in Bute Curling Club’s Macrae Cup competition in Greenock this week.

Three rinks of Bute curlers took to the ice at the Waterfront to do battle for the trophy, traditionally the final club game of the season, although this time there are still Day League and Argyll Province matches to be played.

Donnie, Donald and Nancy comprised Rink A, with Ron Forrester (skip), Barbara Dunn, Bill Stein and Beck Reid in Rink B and Colin Sharp (skip), Alec Robertson, Margaret MacLeod and Peter Martin in Rink C.

The first game saw Rink A defeat Rink B by eight shots to three; as the losing rink, Ron and co stayed on the ice to meet Rink C, and recovered from their earlier defeat to win the game 6-3.

In the final game, Rink A defeated Rink C by eight shots to six, leaving Donnie and his team-mates as winners of the trophy.
