Bute Curling Club lost out on the final Argyll Province prize of the season at the Waterfront ice rink in Greenock last week.

Eight rinks from Bute, Dunoon, Glenorchy, Millport, Oban and Tighnabruaich took part in the competition, and though the Bute rink of Ron Forrester, Donnie MacLeod, Bill Stein and Peter Martin defeated Dunoon Ladies 6-5 in their first game, a 5-4 defeat to Oban in the second round of fixtures endedd Bute’s hopes of taking the top prize.

A disappointing week for Bute’s curlers concluded with Ron Forrester, Donald Kinnear, Nancy Kinnear and John Middleton falling to a 10-5 defeat against Dunoon in the Greenock Day League the following day.
