Curling: Bute ladies miss out on Woodside Trophy

Bute’s lady curlers fell short in their bid to win the Woodside Trophy in the latest Argyll Province game in Greenock.

Bute, represented by Beck Reid (skip), Margaret Macleod, Jean Laird (guest player) and Nancy Kinnear, led 4-3 with three ends remaining of their opening game against a Dunoon rink skipped by Morag Smith, but Dunoon scored six shots without reply in the closing stages to win 9-4.

In thier second game Bute pulled two shots back in the final end against Issy Currie’s Tighnabruaich rink to tie the match 5-5, though Drimsynie beat Dunoon by a single shot to win the trophy.
