Bute Curling Club fell to a 10-7 defeat against Kilmacolm in their latest fixture in the Greenock Day League this week.

Bute’s representatives, Donnie MacLeod (skip), Donald Kinnear, Margaret MacLeod and John Middleton, won the first end with a single shot, but Kilmacolm hit back with two shots in the second end - and it was a lead the Renfrewshire rink never surrendered, with four shots in the fifth end the highlight of their consistently good play.

Donnie’s rink picked up four shots at the penultimate end, and another one in the final end, but their brave late fightback wasn’t enough to deny Kilmacolm the win.
