Bute County Cricket Club ended a four-match losing streak on Saturday with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over the Alps - Glasgow Accies’ third XI - at the Meadows.

Fielding one of their strongest sides of the season, with Tim Stobart and brothers Guy and Mark Crichton all available, Bute put the visitors in to bat after captain Richard Harding won the toss, and Alps were restricted to a very gettable total of 128 from their 40 overs.

Bute were able to avoid the loss of early top-order wickets which had characterised several of their recent defeats, with Harding and Stobart keeping the scoreboard ticking over; Stobart made 29 and Harding 35 before the Crichton brothers guided the hosts to a convincing win, Mark finishing on an unbeaten 28 and Guy not out on nine.
