Cricket: Bute lose out to Inverclyde in league opener

Bute County Cricket Club lost their opening match in the WDCU Championship by three wickets against Inverclyde in Greenock on Saturday.

Alan Peacock was the islanders’ top scorer on 65 as Bute completed their 40 overs on 197 for eight, and though Francois Lintermans went on to take three wickets for 22 runs, it wasn’t quite enough to prevent Inverclyde securing a close-run victory.

Bute’s next WDCU Championship fixture is at home to Motherwell on Saturday, June 1.
