Bute County Cricket Club extended their winning run in the Lords WDCU Championship to six matches with a comfortable six-wicket home success over a short-handed Inverclyde side on Saturday.

Having seen Inverclyde, who travelled to Rothesay with only nine players, reach a total of 180 for six off their 50 overs, Bute set off in pursuit of victory at a rate of knots, reaching 91 without loss after 15 overs before Alan Peacock was bowled for 42.

Captain Mark Crichton was then caught and bowled for 20, but the highlight of the innings was provided by Tim Stobart, who made 68 runs before being out lbw to Stuart Blair; nonetheless, his total helped Bute reach their target of 181 for the loss of only four wickets after little more than half their allotted overs.
