Bute County Cricket Club were dismissed for only 44 runs against Victoria at Bellahouston Park on Saturday as the club bade farewell to Australian Martin Crump and team captain Chris South.

South is moving with his family to Dorset, while Crump is returning to foreign climes after beginning the cricket season on Bute, but neither was able to prevent Victoria easing to victory on Saturday despite an encouraging team display with the ball and in the field.

The hosts were bowled out inside 27 overs, South taking two for 42 in his final game for the club, but having amassed 170 runs in that time Victoria were always likely to provide a stiff test for Bute’s batsmen - and so it proved, with Tim Stobart the island club’s leading scorer on 14 as Bute fell well short of their target.
