PUPILS from Bute’s three primary schools took part in the island’s annual charity primary biathlon on Thursday afternoon.

The event is usually a triathlon, but with swimming off limits this year due to Rothesay Leisure Pool’s closure for refurbishment, the P7 participants limited themselves to a cycle and run around Rothesay’s public park, pony park and Meadows.

The event traditionally combines physical effort with raising money for a good cause, and this year’s chosen charities were the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation (Rothesay Primary), Calum’s Cabin (St Andrew’s Primary) and Mary’s Meals (North Bute Primary).
