This weekend the members of local jogscotland group, Rothesay Runners, will be taking on a charity challenge in aid of the island’s dialysis unit campaign.

Local runner Hazel Leitch has been running through mud, over obstacles, been covered in colour and even done road runs covering distances from 5k to 10k all in aid of Bute Kidney Dialysis.

Each week Hazel goes out with the Rothesay Runners, and the local group thought it would be good if they could support Hazel and hopefully help raise a bit of extra money.

The Bute Relay Marathon will see the local runners head from Rhubodach on Sunday, September 25, at 10am running around Bute and finishing in Port Bannatyne, covering a distance of around 28 miles.

The stages are all different lengths and each member of the group will sign up for one or more legs of the journey, depending on the distance they would like to run. The relay team will, of course, be ably assisted by their support crew who will ferry them backwards and forwards.

If you would like to help the team support Hazel please drop into Fyne Homes where there is a sponsor form.

Best of luck to all involved, and if you see any of the team out and about on Sunday be sure to give them a cheer and a wave as they pass!
