Bute cyclists in Cumbrae cycle race

Last weekend the Bute Wheelers sent a team of 14 riders by fishing boat and rib to the annual tour of Cumbrae cycle race.

Conditions were windy for the 100 competitors who took part, but the Bute contingent did well and took home some prizes.

Results for the ten-mile TT event were as follows:

Juniors - Lewis Blair 26.06mins, Michael Sweeney 27.31mins, Jonah Templeton 28.37mins, Callum Blair 29.09mins, Molly Doyle 30.07mins and Johnny Zan-Kreyser 30.29mins.

Seniors - Elaine Blair 30.20mins (3rd), James O’Hagen 28.43mins, Iain Blair 26.14mins, Ted Gourley 25.42mins, Brendan O’Hagen 24.37mins, Shaun Lyon 24.30mins.

Murray Doyle got a 4th in class with a 24.06mins ride. Bob Templeton managed a third in class with a season’s best of 23.36mins.

Mike Henry was first in class with a personal best of 22.20 mins.

A great day out was had by all despite the wild conditions.
