Bute curlers do battle against US tourists

BUTE curlers Donnie MacLeod and Ron Forrester joined Archie Morton and Norman Laird from Dunoon for an Argyll Province game against a touring team of curlers from the USA for the Herries Maxwell Trophy at the Waterfront in Greenock.

Curlers from many parts of the USA were visiting Scotland for the event, and played at a number of different venues during their tour, which began on January 24 and concluded on February 20.

Of the four Argyll Province rinks, only that of Archie Morton managed to take a point courtesy of a 6-6 draw, with the tourists easily winning the trophy, which is contested every five years.
