Bute curlers compete for Sunday League Trophy

The competition for the Sunday League Trophy was played at a very busy Braehead Ice Rink on Sunday, November 23, which co-incided with the British Wheelchair Curling Pairs Championships.

With nine curlers available for Bute on the day, the local competition was played in a Round Robin format with three rinks of three.

In the first round, Donald Kinnear (skip), Ron Forrester and Jan Eccles met up with Colin Sharp (skip), Beck Reid and Peter Martin. Although Donald took the first end by two shots, Colin took the following three ends to lead by 7 shots to 2 going into the fifth and final end. Donald took this end by 1 shot to leave Colin well in command by 7 shots to 3.

Donald and his rink stayed on the ice to meet with Donnie MacLeod (skip), Andy Eccles and Bill Stein.

Once again, Donald took the first end by 2 shots while Donnie took a single shot at the second end. Donald and his side won the next two ends to lead by 5 shots to 1 going into the final end. however, 4 shots at the fifth end gave Donnie level pegging and 1 point to each side.

the final game saw Donnie and Colin go head to head.
