Bute County Cricket Club’s new season got underway to a disappointing start, with two heavy defeats.
The first fixture of the season was not played due to a waterlogged pitch, but the following cup game against GHK in Anniesland was a very quick defeat with Bute being bowled out for 22 in the 14th over. GHK made short work of chasing down the small target inside 5 overs.
Despite the one sided scores there were many positives to be taken from the day, with five players playing their first ever game of cricket.
The man of the match award went to one of the players on debut, and the first woman to ever play for the County - Frances South was the player left stranded with the bat in her hand but no partner at the other end, and showing great commitment in the field.
