Brian Caird won his second Ardbeg Bowling Club gents’ singles championship title on Sunday, beating Jimmy Gilmour 21-16 in the final.
Brian got off to a great start, leading 8-0 after five ends, but Jimmy battled back and eventually levelled the match at 13-13 with 14 ends played.
Three ends later the final was all-square once more, this time at 16 shots apiece, but Brian held his nerve and reeled off five shots over the next three ends to secure the title.
Three other finals were also played on Sunday: the ladies’ and gents’ president’s finals were won by Liz McHugh and Ronnie McCrae respectively, while Danny Bowie and Gordon Wokes secured the gents’ pairs prize.
