Bowlers from Ardbeg and Rothesay shared the honours as the Bute Bowling Association’s gents’ competition season drew to a close this week.
The final of the Stonehaven singles was played at the Craigmore between Ronnie McCrae of Ardbeg and Donald McKellar, representing Rothesay, who had defeated Hugh Yeamans of Craigmore Bowling Club in a close fought semi-final which saw Donald eventually win 21-17.
The final started off with both Ronnie and Donald finding their weight and grass very quickly, and for the first six or seven ends the game was tight.
Donald then began to edge ahead and at the end of the game won by 21 shots to 10.
BBA president Hugh Yeamans presented the prizes and the Stonehaven Trophy, and complimented both players for an excellent game.
