Rothesay Bowling Club retained the Bute Bowling Association’s McMillan Cup with victory over Craigmore in the final at Ardbeg on Thursday.

Skip David McMurchie led Donald McKellar, John Walker and Kenny Thomson to a 19-13 win over Frank Hepburn, Ian Tait, Hugh Yeamans and skip Phil Kirkham, with five shots in the 16th and penultimate end proving crucial for the Rothesay rink.

Rothesay had sealed their place in the final with a 16-11 win over the Ardbeg rink of Andy Williams, Gordon Peacock, Gordon Wokes and skip Fred Baker in the semi-final the previous evening.

The BBA’s gents’ competitions continue in the next few weeks with the Hicks Pairs, Smith Cup (singles), Easton Triples and Stonehaven senior singles as well as the Macrae Cup mixed pairs.
