Rothesay Bowling Club retained the Bute Bowling Association’s County Cup with a clean sweep of wins over their Ardbeg counterparts this week.
The annual contest, held on a single evening, features four triples from each of the two clubs, with two matches taking place simultaneously at each club and the winners decided on an overall shots aggregate.
Rothesay, the 2011 winners, retained the trophy in style, winning all four matches, and club president John Gilchrist received the trophy at the prize-giving at Ardbeg from Bute Bowling Association president Albert Tittensor.
The tournament results were as follows (Ardbeg skips’ names first): George McNae 15-23 Matt Martin; Danny Bowie 6-19 Donald McKellar; John Preston 10-14 David McMurchie; Brian Caird 12-14 Haig Reynolds.
Overall result: Ardbeg 43-70 Rothesay.
