The new outdoor season at Ardbeg Bowling Club got under way on Sunday when Rosemary Bowie delivered the silver jack and first bowl of the year.

Rosemary, whose husband Danny is the club’s president, received a bouquet of flowers from vice-president Gordon Wokes before 25 players took part in the traditional opening-day president’s versus vice-president’s team game.

Eight ends were played in a steady drizzle, after which the vice-president’s team was declared winners by an aggregate of 28 shots to 23.
