Peter Thompson, Helen Wood, Agnes Connell and Ross McGinty won Rothesay Bowling Club’s first indoor flier of the winter on Friday.

Julie Gilchrist, whose husband John is the club president, threw the first bowls of the winter following the refurbishment work which took place at the clubhouse over the last few weeks courtesy of a £9,900 grant from the National Lottery, while John himself paid tribute to contractor Robin Bussey and to the club’s own workforce of Hughie Charker, Jock McKirdy and Alan Cowan.

Thirty players took part, and it was particularly nice to see a few new players participating, including Archie McCallum – don’t forget where the clubhouse is Archie!
