ROTHESAY’S David McMurchie retained his Bute Bowling Association Stonehaven senior singles title thanks to a 21-15 win over Craigmore’s Hugh Yeamans in the final at Ardbeg.

The first three ends were all won by single shots, with Hugh opening up a 2-1 lead, but David then embarked on a consistent scoring run, picking up six shots over the next four ends to take a commanding 7-2 advantage - and a four at the tenth end gave David a 12-3 lead.

Hugh managed to reduce David’s advantage to just two shots at 17-15 after the 22nd end, that was as close as Hugh would get to regaining the lead, with David picking up four shots at the last two ends to secure the trophy.

Association president John Gilchrist presented the prizes for the last of the BBA’s inter-club competitions of 2012 at the close of play.
