Craigmore Bowling Club’s three-year wait for success in the Bute Bowling Association’s gents’ knockout competitions ended this week when Lennie Moffat and Norman Lamond won the Hicks Pairs title.

The duo - whose clubmates Phil Kirkham and Hugh Yeamans were Craigmore’s last BBA gents’ winners, lifting the same prize back in 2012 - presented a tough challenge to Rothesay’s John Gilchrist and Alan Cowan, and scored five shots in the final two ends to come from behind for a 19-15 victory.

Next on the BBA gents’ fixture list is the Easton Triples, the final of which will be played on Thursday, July 30.
