Two Bute bowlers celebrated a double triumph at the Isle of Bute Carpet Bowling Ascsociation’s annual open tournament at Rothesay Pavilion.
John Gilchrist won the gents’ singles and pairs competitions, beating George Reynolds 21-16 in the final of the singles and partnering Jimmy Milliken to a 22-8 win over Alan Ewing and Gordon Shaw in the pairs final.
And Kath Bell was also celebrating after beating Violet Westland 21-17 in the ladies’ singles final to add to the association’s own singles championship she won for Ardbeg Bowling Club earlier in the week.
The mother-and-son pair of Joan and George Reynolds won the open mixed pairs title, beating the husband-and-wife duo of David and Cathy McMurchie 15-13 in the final, while Violet Westland and Renee Speirs won the ladies’ pairs trophy courtesy of a 26-9 final defeat of Rosemary Bowie and Margaret McMillan.
The prizes were presented by Betty Morrow after the close of play in the final session on Friday.
