A Rothesay Primary School pupil picked up two silver medals at the recent Argyll and Bute Primary Badminton Championships.

Adam Guy’s two medals were awarded in the boys’ doubles and mixed doubles at the tournament, held in the Victoria Hall in Campbeltown on Saturday, February 1.

The tournament is open to pupils in P6 and P7 attending any primary school in Argyll and Bute, and this year attracted more than 30 competitors from Rothesay, Dunoon, Arrochar, Oban and Kintyre.

The full list of winners and runners-up is as follows:

Girls’ singles - winner Niamh Evans (Dunoon), runner-up Jane Scott (Campbeltown).

Boys’ singles - winner Elliot Gemmill (Campbeltown), runner-up Gregor Campbell (Glenbarr).

Girls’ doubles - winners Iona Campbell and Jessica Lang (Campbeltown), runners-up Niamh Evans (Dunoon) and Jennifer McMurchy (Campbeltown).

Boys’ doubles - winners Gregor Campbell (Glenbarr) and Elliot Gemmill (Campbeltown), runners-up Adam Guy (Rothesay) and Gavin Thorpe (Oban).

Mixed doubles - winners Mary Thomson and Archie McKellar (Campbeltown), runners-up Ayla Kormucu (Campbeltown) and Adam Guy (Rothesay).
