BUTE athlete Shaun Lyon finished 66th of the 55,000 competitors in Sunday’s Bupa Great North Run in Newcastle.
Shaun, representing Greenock Glenpark Harriers, crossed the finishing line in South Shields in a time of one hour, 15 minutes and 17 seconds – completing the course less than 17 minutes behind the winner of the men’s race, Kenyan Wilson Kipsang.
Meanwhile, Bute police sergeant Dave Wilkinson and his daughter. Helen, completed the 13.1 mile course together in two hours, 12 minutes and 36 seconds – finishing in 22,604th and 22,605th places respectively, and raising £545 at the time of writing for the local Calum’s Cabin charity.
Bute’s participation in the 2012 run was completed by Jean Kennedy of Largievrechtan farm who finished in 32,970th place in two hours, 35 minutes and 30 seconds.
