Angling: Bute tournament raises more than £1,000 for cancer charity

The annual Autumn Doubles angling competition at Loch Fad on Bute has raised more than £1,000 for the Marie Curie cancer charity.

Linda Poole from Loch Fad presented a cheque for £1,030 to the island’s Marie Curie nurse, Phyllis McKirdy, at the close of the 2012 event on Sunday.

Thirty-three pairs of anglers took part in the two-day event, which was won by Laurie Taylor and Derek Keenan with a weekend haul of 26 fish, weighing a total of 68lb 7oz.
