Mac’s 2 seal league title

Despite losing their match 5-4 against stablemates Mac’s 1 last Thursday, Mac’s 2, who won all their doubles games in the tie, gained the one point required to secure the overall league title with a match in hand.

Kingarth 1 scrapped through with a 5-4 win over the Galatea in the last doubles to gain all three points available, but this proved to be too little too late.

There is only a three point difference between the top two, but even if Mac’s 2 don’t gain any points and Kingarth get three this Thursday, Mac’s 2 would still win the league with their 12-frame difference lead.

Struan 1 are sitting just one point adrift of Kingarth after their 8-1 win against Golfers 2, and the Struan are the only team in a position to steal second place from Kingarth.

Struan 2, however, will have to settle for fourth place this year and along with the five aforementioned teams, secure their place in the Champion of Champions Cup sponsored by Stephen Thomas.

The bottom four teams in the league must play off for the two remaining spots in the first round of this competition.
