BUTE’S curlers brought down the curtain on a landmark season at the annual dinner and prize-giving for Bute Curling Club at the Victoria Hotel in Rothesay.

The high points of the year were the celebration of the club’s 150th anniversary at a dinner in November, and the opportunity for Bute players Donnie MacLeod and Ron Forrester to represent Argyll Province in a match against a touring USA team for the Harries-Maxwell Trophy in February; however, there was plenty of other action on the ice to look back on at the annual presentation of the season’s silverware.

The club’s 2011-12 trophy winners are as follows.

125 Anniversary Cup - Beck Reid.

The Cowan Trophy - Andy Eccles and Peter Martin.

The Macrae Cup - Donnie MacLeod.

Bank of Scotland Trophy - Colin Sharp.

Bute County Trophy (best Bute skip) - Beck Reid.

Clydesdale Bank Trophy - Beck Reid.

The Millbank Trophy - Donnie MacLeod.

Bute Curling Club Sunday League – Alec Robertson.

The Carlsberg Trophy was cancelled.
