Shinty: Weather hits Bute’s friendly plans

The aftermath of this week’s wet weather has hit Bute Shinty Club’s pre-season friendly plans.

The Bute second team’s friendly against local rivals Col-Glen at Glendaruel has been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch after heavy snow on Wednesday and rain on Thursday left the surface unplayable.

Meanwhile, the Bute first team’s friendly at home to Kilmory on Saturday is still on, but the venue has been changed from the Meadows in Rothesay to Ardnahoe farm on the island’s west coast (if you’re unfamiliar with the geography, follow the B881 south from Rothesay, and Ardnahoe is the first farm on your right after the turn-off for Scalpsie Bay).
