Bute Shinty Club’s first team will have a new coach when the 2013 season gets under way next month.

Graham Fisher succeeded Barry Martin at the club’s AGM this week - and won’t have to wait long for the first chance to see his charges in action.

Martin, who remains the club’s chairman, said: “I just felt it was time for a change. Graham originally offered to be my assistant but I thought it was a chance to do it the other way around - Graham will be in charge, but I’ll be there to assist if necessary.”

Fisher’s first chance to see his troops in action comes this Saturday, February 16, when Kilmory visit Rothesay for the Bute first team’s opening pre-season friendly; throw-up at the Meadows is at 1pm.

Bute’s second team are also in action this Saturday - they have a friendly against Col-Glen at Glendaruel, due to get under way at 1.30pm.
