Rothesay hailed as ‘top leisure centre’ in Argyll and Bute

The refurbished Rothesay Leisure Pool opens at 7.30am on Monday, July 2.

The refurbished Rothesay Leisure Pool opens at 7.30am on Monday, July 2.

The hard work of those who have been busy behind the scenes refurbishing Rothesay Leisure Centre was clear to all who visited the revamped facility during two open days this week.

The centre in High Street, which reopens to the public at 7.30am this Monday, July 2, now has the latest in gym equipment, with the new cardiovascular machines supplied by ‘technogym’, the company who have supplied equipment to the London Olympics.

The gym is now located on the poolside in the former spectator area with natural light and air-conditioning, and the health suite now boasts a brand new steam room in addition to the existing sauna.

Argyll and Bute Council’s depute councillor for human resources and sport, Robert Macintyre, praised the standard of the new centre, which was visited by more than four hundred people during the two open days.

“This is now the top leisure centre in Argyll and Bute with facilities second to none,” he said.

“We have a growing membership and are well on our way to our target of four hundred.”

The changing village has been retiled and new lockers installed, the pool has been retiled and the new lights make it a warm inviting atmosphere in which to enjoy a swim.

The new therapy room will allow customers to book treatments to suit their own timescales and preferences, and will give local beauty therapists the opportunity to work from a well-equipped base.
