Pool: Mike wins first Bute SPA qualifier
Mike McHardy triumphed in the first of the Isle of Bute area’s SPA Individual Membership qualifiers on Monday with a 6-3 win over Robbie Docherty in the final at the Struan Bar.
After winning a tactical first frame, Mike went on to open up a commanding 4-0 lead, only for Robbie to answer back by taking three of the next four to close the gap to 5-3.
Near the end of the ninth frame Mike ran out of position leaving a fine cut to the middle that landed short, giving Robbie an opportunity to finish off this frame to stay in the game, but unfortunately he missed his first ball and left a tap in black to the middle for Mike to win frame and match.
