Golf: Treasurer Sandy is on the money at Kingarth
Bute Golf Club’s treasurer Sandy Long cashed in on Saturday with his best competitive performance at Kingarth since winning the club’s Senior Open in 2011.
The 22-handicapper returned a score of 43 points in the latest round of the Winter League stableford tournament, appropriately sponsored by Stephen Thomas Financial Services, to finish two points clear of his nearest challengers after a gross 83 which earned him a two-shot cut in his handicap.
Robert McBride (13) and Richie More (11) shared the runner-up spot, while overall league leader Andy Docherty scored 39 points to increase his lead to seven at the top of the standings.
