Golf: Port’s Winter League reaches third qualifying round

Jamie Jardine and Jack Paterson sit at the top of the League A qualification table in the Rothesay Motor Services Winter League at Port Bannatyne with eight points from three unbeaten games after beating Graham Fisher and Ian McFarlane in Sunday’s third round of qualifying games.

Ian Shaw and FrancoisLintermans, who beat Colin Renfrew and Gordon Peacock by 3 and 2 on Sunday, continue to dominate League B with a one hundred per cent record that stands them in good stead for qualification, although with three games still to go, anything can happen.

The top of the table clash in League C on Sunday, which saw John Marshall and Jim Bicker take on Bobby Cassidy and Jim McKirdy, proved a tense affair from which both parties emerged reasonably happy with a halved match.
