Golf: Police pair take charge in Rothesay Winter League

Gary Steele and Jimmy Crawford appear to have the rest of the field in the Bike Shed Winter League pairs at Rothesay well and truly cuffed.

The pair – the former recently retired as a police sergeant, the latter still in service at the same rank – followed up last week’s winning score of 47 points with an even better one of 48 on Sunday.

That gave them a one-point margin ahead of Ian Simpson and Craig McKellar, while Jim Milliken and Donnie McArthur scored 45 points in their first round together to finish third.

Stuart Strathie continued his good run of form in the later Winter League singles round on Saturday, scoring 45 points to finish six clear of nearest challenger Angus Murray.
