Golf: George and Stuart win third Wee Bennie Trophy
GEORGE HANSON and Stuart Robertson lifted the Wee Bennie Trophy for the third time in ten years at Rothesay Golf Club on Sunday.
Hanson and Robertson squeezed into top spot only after a countback, having tied with Iain McMurchie and John Shaw for top spot, both pairs returning net scores of 60 in one of the club’s most popular competitions, which this year is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The scoring was close throughout the field, with only three shots separating the best 16 pairs, eight of whom posted net scores of 63.
The prizes were presented at the close of play by the tournament’s sponsors, Gerry and Leelah McGuigan.
