Curling: Bute beaten in Greenock league clash

Bute’s curlers fell to a heavy defeat against Skelmorlie in their latest Greenock Day League match at the Waterfront on February 6.

Bute, represented by Beck Reid (skip), Donnie MacLeod, Margaret MacLeod and Hugh Yeamans, were up against it from the start as Skelmorlie took four shots at the opening end, and added five in the second and another four in the third.

Despite a brief rally, which saw Bute win the fifth and sixth ends by single shots, another big finish by Skelmorlie completed a day to forget for the island rink.
