John Shaw went one better in week 8 of the Bike Shed Winter league singles on Saturday with a winning score of 34 points after finishing runner up last week.
John completed both halves of the course in 17 points in very difficult conditions with the course brick hard after the overnight frost. Tied in second place were Jimmy Ewing and Kenny Thomson with 31 points and yet again Jimmy was the only player to record a two when he manufactured a shot at the 13th hole hitting his driver to the bottom of the hill and letting the hard ground do the rest.
In the pairs on Sunday Allan Smith and George Reynolds returned an incredible score of 49 points which considering the conditions with balls bouncing all over the place due to the hard ground was an amazing score. The pair were out in 24 points and on the back nine George eagled the 14th and 16th holes after birdieing the 12th.
Over the rest of the holes it was Allan who did the damage using his handicap well especially on the last two holes to bring the pair back in 25 points. The nearest challengers were Hughie Charker and Billy McFarlane with 41 points who took second spot courtesy of the better back nine after tying with Stuart Strathie and Allan Laughlan and Willie Glen and Gordon Shaw also 41 points.
Not surprisingly nobody managed a two at the 4th hole so this will roll-over until next week.
