Golf: Winter League champions crowned at Port Bannatyne

Jamie Jardine and Ted McDonald secured the Winter League title at Port Bannatyne Golf Club on Sunday.

Jardine and McDonald defeated Hector Whitelaw and Donald Standaloft 2 and 1 in the battle for the top prize, while Sam Jamieson beat Gordy Macintyre 3 and 2 in the battle for third place while their respective partners, Jim Thom and David Driver, were unable to take to the course, with Jim in China and David representing the club in the Daily Mail Foursomes at West Kilbride.

Colin Renfrew and Gordon Peacock finished fifth, with Connor McClymont and Iain McFarlane sixth, John Black and Bobby Pedder seventh and Mark Crichton and Robert Jardine eighth.

Ninth place went to Calum MacPhail and Pete Barnett and tenth to Arran Dunn and James Webster, with the father-and-son Alec Greers taking 11th spot and Robert MacArthur and Joe Livingstone the wooden spoon in 12th.
