Ian White won his first championship title at Rothesay Golf Club on Saturday courtesy of a 2 and 1 win over defending champion Graham Bolton in the 36-hole final.

The match was a closely-fought affair in which Ian was one hole up after 18, though Graham, with 15 Rothesay titles to his name, battled back to take the lead in the course of the afternoon round, and by the time the players reached the last four holes the match was level once again.

Strong winds made the course anything but easy, but the scoring was very good from both finalists - until Graham ran into trouble on the 16th hole, allowing Ian to go one hole up, and the challenger closed out the game, and the championship, with a solid par at the 17th hole.
