Kenny Thomson finally found his game to win the Ian Haig Trophy, one of the most sought-after prizes of the season, at Rothesay Golf Club on Saturday.
Kenny’s winning net score of 65 (76-11) saw him win by a single shot from Michael Murty on 66 (71-5), while John Duncan completed the podium with a net 70 (75-5).
The wet and windy conditions on Saturday meant the CSS was 70, though the high turnout of players showed just how much this trophy means to the members.
* Meanwhile, Malcolm Brown retained the Summer Cup with a best-four-rounds total of 270 after the final round of the competition on Sunday, finishing four ahead of Willie Glen; also on Sunday, Nicky Simmons beat George Reynolds by one hole to win the Craigmore knockout singles.
